Richard Chapman was born in Zambia and moved to England at the age of 8.
He came to sculpture at the age of 40 and found that he was still heavily influenced by his early years in Africa.
The main inspiration for Chapman’s sculptures comes from the art of ancient civilisations.
The bronze figures with their strong idiosyncratic style appear at once powerful yet serene, with an essence of the spiritual energy of deities from primitive mythologies that watch like guardians over us all.
