SONIA MARTIN
Sonia Martin (@soniamartinartist) is a London-based artist working in paintings and prints. Her work is in collections, including the Ashmolean Museum, the Fitzwilliam Museum, and the V&A. Her artworks have been widely exhibited, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the London Art Biennale, Bankside Gallery, and the London Original Print Fair. She received a Pollock-Krasner Award in 2021, was shortlisted for the Contemporary British Painting Prize in 2022, and became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 2023.
Of her work, Sonia Martin states:
“The world I create is from my observations, memory and experiences. Many of the subjects emerge as exiles; migrants between the here-and-now and the world of the imagination. They are explorations of emotions and feelings that constantly redefine themselves in relation to the world.
I'm drawn to how experiences can be simultaneously everyday and extraordinary and in these imaginary works I hope to give expression to this paradox.
My work has been exhibited in many exhibitions both in the UK and abroad, and I am a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.”
